About Ties Poeth
Ties Poeth (1957, the Netherlands) is a versatile artist, who belongs to the small group of experimental animation filmmakers. His work shows an aversion to stereotypes, clichés and trends. He uses different types techniques. His films are a stream of visual associations and true to the tradition of Oscar Fischinger, Len Lye and Norman Mc Laren. The 'story' always plays a minor role in the dynamics of the images.
Poeth: "My style is a way of working and not a particular technique or form. The style stems from the problem that the approach and the form stems from the way of working. It is a very instinctive process. "Poeth has received many international awards with showing Poeth’s films at more than 400 film festivals.
Since the early nineties, Poeth has been creating furniture with a wink, in bright colors with something specific in particular, its own story. The furniture of Ties Poeth are, apart from utensils, also objects where you can discover everything.
Poeth processes the story by including symbols and references in his furniture objects. It is a viewing game and the pleasure is mainly to discover for yourself what is in it and what you want to see in it yourself.
